Delving into the archives to look back at Kerry & Gary’s fantastic wedding day at Donnington Valley Hotel & Spa. An elegant wedding venue set in the Berkshire countryside on the outskirts of Newbury. As locals, it was a natural choice for Kerry & Gary. A wedding day packed with fun, laughter, and an outbreak of Irish dancing. I’ve had Kerry & Gary’s wedding photos on my website gallery page from day one, due to their model good looks, not my photography skills! Poor blogging discipline by me. They actually got married in 2013 and now have two children. But now into a second lockdown I thought why not look at photos from a ten year old digital camera : )

DONNINGTON VALLEY HOTEL & SPA - THE PERFECT VENUE

Donnington Valley Hotel & Spa is worth checking out if you’re looking for an elegant wedding venue in the lovely Berkshire countryside. The modern and spacious venue doesn’t have the usual sterile and somewhat numb feel of so many of the modern hotels in the area. It has won multiple awards and the warm and friendly staff make the “getting married” experience carefree.

Kerry & Gary had the ceremony and evening reception in Snelsmore House, which is a stunning Grade II listed Victorian building overlooking the rolling fairways of Donnington Valley Golf Club. Snelsmore House is a perfect Exclusive Use wedding venue for your special day.

Golfers can beat the pre-wedding jitters with a game of eighteen holes on the dedicated course, which Gary and his mates took advantage of, and before the big day, the bride can also pamper herself in the spa.

On the wedding day, Gary got ready at his house a few miles away, while Kerry used the large bridal suite, which offers plenty of room for bridesmaids and hairdressers to get ready.

A range of wedding options are available and can be tailored to suit your wedding day festivities, including fully licensed civil ceremonies, a select choice of wedding breakfast venues and alluring evening receptions.

There’s also beautiful lakes and bridges scattered all around, making for some amazing wedding photos. A buggy takes you around as you handpick the best spots, but it’s not so spread out as to make it too time consuming. Just as well. Weddings are always subject to delays and I don’t think any guests were expecting Gary’s groom speech.It was epic.The daddy of speeches.Possibly 30 minutes long. I’m pretty sure nobody picked up the sweepstake money for guessing the correct time and it went behind the bar.

There’s plenty of accommodation – a total of 111 contemporary bedrooms to be exact, all offering special rates for wedding guests.The hotel boasts flexible banqueting facilities, which means it can easily accommodate up to 150 guests. The civil ceremonies can handle as many as 150 guests while the evening party setup can house up to 180 guests.

Whether you want to have an intimate reception with your closest family members and friends or one that’s more lavish and outspoken – your wedding is always in good hands. THE POST BARN

As of October 2020, work has nearly finished on a new luxurious wedding barn, and it looks like it is going to be something special. The barn is just opposite Snelsmore house, and will serve as a venue for weddings and other memorable occasions, hosting up to 150 guests. The Post Barn will have beautiful oak beams and floor to ceiling steel windows ensuring the barn will be bathed with natural light. From a photographers point of view this is fantastic, it couldn’t be better for wedding photos. In a world of dark wedding barns, The Post Barn stands out as a delightful contemporary space.

The plans for the landscaped grounds also look beautiful, and will be a perfect setting for your wedding photography. If I was getting married next year in Berkshire, I wouldn’t book anywhere until I had paid this venue a visit.
